Photography vs. Trademark Insanity!!

In a return to the normally scheduled programming, I’d like to bring your attention to a story relating to the wonderful Ford Motor Company, who have decided to follow Porsche previous actions by suing or enforcing trademark on one of their independent owners groups (The Black Mustang Club). Apparently, the members, as usual decided to crank out their 2008 club calendar, only to find a communication, courtesy of Ford lawyers, letting them know that they were infringing on Ford’s Trademarks and Goodwill and to cease and desist publication immediately.

If anyone reading this cares to comment or send me an email, I’d love to know what the legal status of this actually is!!! I mean this could really be taken to extremes. Anyone in the image wearing Nike tennis shoes?? Anyone in your image eating a burger from a large burger chain in the image?? Any stores in the background with their trademarked logo visible??

Anyone shed some light on this please?
